This page explains, in one place, everywhere Novato uses AI, what data that involves, and what you should and shouldn't rely on it for. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, not a replacement for either.
Novato uses Anthropic's Claude models for every AI feature described below. We don't use multiple AI providers or route your data through anyone else, Anthropic is the only third party involved in AI processing.
When a compliance document is uploaded (a licence, insurance certificate, induction card, or similar), it's sent to Claude to automatically extract and check details, such as document type, licence numbers, holder name, and expiry date, against what the requirement expects. This is the same check a reviewer would otherwise do by eye; AI just does the first pass.
Several features draft or suggest content based on a short description you type in, instead of you writing it from scratch:
In every case, only the content needed for that specific task, such as the document itself, or the description and details you provide, is sent to Claude. We don't send your whole account, project, or unrelated records along with it.
We don't use anything you upload or type into an AI feature to train Anthropic's models, or any third-party model. Your content is used to generate your own result, and nothing else.
Anthropic processes requests on infrastructure located outside Australia. See section 5 (Overseas disclosure) of our Privacy Policy for how we handle that under the Australian Privacy Principles.
Document verification reduces manual review effort but can make mistakes, a flagged mismatch or a clean pass is a prompt for a human reviewer to look, not a final legal determination. You remain responsible for your own compliance decisions.
AI-drafted content is a starting point, not a finished document.A generated SWMS, induction quiz, permit checklist, or similar is meant to be reviewed and edited before you rely on it or send it to a worker, client, or third party, not submitted as-is. Novato doesn't guarantee AI-drafted content is accurate, complete, or fit for your specific project.
What you type into an AI-drafting feature, and what Novato generates for you from it, is treated the same as any other content you create in Novato, you own it. See Terms of Service section 6.
As we add or change AI features, we'll update this page. Material changes will be notified the same way as changes to our Privacy Policy or Terms, by email or an in-app notice to account holders.
